While many of us in Lands End only pay attention to what goes on inside our small sphere of influence, it is important to stay educated on current events in some regions outside of our own. The most important of these larger regions are the Game Created Regions (GCRs for short) and they are the heavy hitters when it comes to current affairs.
Our newest reporter, Yahwehs Chosen Peoples has conducted an interview with an official from The South Pacific (TSP) a GCR, his name is Islands Of Unity
Yawehs Chosen: Alright let me start of by asking For those in lands end who may not know you to introduce yourself how long you've been apart of the TSP government
Islands: Hi! I'm islands of unity, I've been on NS for nearly 4 years but only on this level for a little more than a year. I've been in tsp for a year, and have served in the past as Minister of Regional Affairs and Deputy Chair of the Assembly
Yawehs Chosen: Great, What is your favorite gameplay aspect of NS ie WA, Regional Government, forum debating, rp, etc
Islands: Regional government for sure! I'm very involved at the government level, and rarely go onto the site. My favorite gameside activity is WA GA legislation
Yawehs: Wonderful that leads me into another question: What is any prominent experience you've had with the WA and or any important legislation you have helped on.
Islands: So again I'm mainly a government person, but I have drafted a GA bill that made it to a general vote. It was a piece of legislation that would allow nations to dissolve corporations
Yawehs: Interesting that's ironic since we are based on a corporation, but anyway back to the interview Before I ask anymore important questions about your time in TSP what is your opinion on the WALL block
Islands; Haha, watch out lands end I'm not familiar with a WALL Block
Yawehs: Interesting, its a WA voting league ( the World Assembly Legislative Leauge). Okay okay okay how was the experience of running for WA delegate?
Islands: I'm currently running for Minister again, but I have ran for delegate in the past, which would you like to hear about?
Yawehs: First let's hear about when you ran for delegate then i will get to more current events.
Islands: Ok! So when I first came to TSP I managed a campaign for Chair, and really enjoyed the process of contacting voters and speaking to them and seeing where they think the region should be headed By the time that delegate elections rolled around I was excited for a new chance to not only serve the region but also campaign on a personal boots on the ground way So in that election I spoke to everybody in the assembly at the time and I did come in 3rd
Yawehs: Sounds very interesting and a very good experience for you
Islands: In our delegate election system, the top 2 go on to a public gameside vote, and I missed out on that opportunity by a single vote. I really enjoyed it
Yawehs: Speaking of elections can you give me a brief run down of the TSP government in layman's terms
Islands: So we have a head of state and a head of government. The head of state is the delegate, and the head of the executive is the prime minister who serves as the leader of the cabinet that's composed of the leaders of the ministries in the region We also have an assembly composed of all voting members of tsp, that is lead by the Chair of the Assembly Every position is elected.
Yawehs: So you said you are again running for minister. What is the campaign trail for that like?
Islands: This time I'm not doing so much of boots on the ground campaigning, as a lot of region members have agreed that it's time for a break from that for a bit So far it's been good though! I've gotten a lot of good feedback on my platform
Yawehs: Sounds reasonable, Let's move off TSP government for a moment and talk about your NS experience what brought you to NS
Islands:I'm very interested in politics, and me looking for a political game lead me here
Yawehs: Interesting. What would you say the benefit is of life in a GCR over a UCR
I; Well there are differences, but it's not something that's a huge difference My biased view is that gcr's tend to have a lot of people and activity whereas ucr's might not unless they're large
Yawehs: Well GCRs don't exactly have to worry about recruiting like we do And i assume this is what led you to the TSP
Islands: My journey in Nationstates is a bit odd, let me elaborate So before a year ago I was never really involved in any region or area of the game I would play for a week at most and then I'd forget about it and let my nation cte before I came back This was for about 3 years
Yawehs: Interesting I used to be like that before I found Lands end and arrived to this position Lets do a few more questions before I wrap this up
Islands: Ok
Yawehs: Great.. if you could change anything about NS what would it be
Islands: I would love if gameside added economics and built in military features A gameside currency would be amazing
Yawehs: Me too honestly that would be nice to have, although it would be something hard to achieve. last question What is your must watch/read book, movie, video, or article or just any recommendation for something to look into
Islands: I recently just finished watching synecdoche, New York and really enjoyed it! I'd recommend watching if you like complex or artsy movies
Yawehs: Thanks for the great interview
